II. Organizational Context and Scope

Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

The Western Hemisphere Program funded by the United States Department of State, Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (PRM), seeks to strengthen the capacities of States in Central America, Mexico, and the Caribbean to manage migration in a humane and sustainable manner. The Program has four pillars: migration management, regional dialogue and partnerships, migration crisis management, and communication for development.   

Phase XI of the Western Hemisphere Program includes carrying out a wide range of activities at the regional and national level in the area of ​​Migrant Protection and Assistance.

Under the overall supervision of the Western Hemisphere Program Coordinator and the direct supervision of the Migration Technical Specialist, the incumbent will be responsible for the following tasks.

III. Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  1. Support activities on Migrant Protection and Assistance of ​​the Program through research and systematization of information required on the subject and others related to the Program.
  2. Prepare inputs for the elaboration of terms of reference and concept notes for the technical planning and execution of the different activities.
  3. Provide technical support to organize regional events, including tracking and managing invitation lists, pre and post evaluations and reports.
  1. Develop contents for new e-learning courses in close collaboration with thematic specialists, technical experts and external partners.
  2. Review the coherence between scripts and the resulting e-learning courses designed in house by the E-Campus Team.
  3. Ensure consistency between course audio, text on screen and multimedia, as well as correct writing and spelling.
  4. Undertake other duties as may be assigned.

 

IV. Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Six years of working experience with secondary education; o four years of working experience with bachelor’s University degree (master’s advantage) in Social Sciences or a related field; or any other related human rights or migration.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office programs, social media, knowledge of SharePoint or other collaboration and knowledge management platforms

Experience

  • Experience in migration and human rights projects.
  • Experience in training design and implementation.
  • Experience working in an international and professional setting.

SKILLS

  • Ability to manage and systematise information.
  • Excellent ability in writing and drafting of reports.
  • Good analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under tight timelines.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural and diverse environment with various working styles.
