II. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE
Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and nongovernmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
The IOM Western Hemisphere Migration Program, funded by the Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (PRM), State Department of the United States, seeks to improve the capacities of the States of Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean on migration policy. The program has four pillars: migration management, dialogue and partnerships, management of migration crises and communication for development.
Under the overall supervision of the Western Hemisphere Program Deputy Project
Coordinator and direct supervision of the Senior IM/GIS Assistant, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
III. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Assist in the cleaning, validation and review of data for its correct storage in regional databases, according to homologated standards.
• Support in the development of automated processes that optimize data cleansing and standardization.
• Support in the interpretation of data and cross-checking of variables for reports on migration flow monitoring and migrant presence.
• Support in the drafting and consistent writing of reports on monitoring of migration flows and presence of migrants and other studies of the Information Management Unit.
• Develop sampling methodologies, parameters to define margins of error and statistical significance for surveys and support in the supervision of compliance with the sampling methodology and in the quality control of the data collected.
• Develop methodologies for the elaboration of population estimates based on data from various sources.
• Performs any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
IV. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
EDUCATION
• High school degree with at least four years of relevant professional experience
or
• Bachelor´s degree related to statistics, data analysis or business analysis from an accredited academic institution with at least two years of relevant professional experience
EXPERIENCE
• At least two years of experience in data management, especially in data cleansing, storage, updating and database management.
• At least two years working on data analysis and interpretation, multiple cross-checking of variables and development of indicators.
• At least two years of experience in survey elaboration, analysis and sample processes.
• Knowledge in Migration Studies could be considered as an advantage.
SKILLS
• Excellent command of RStudio, MySQL, SQL Server, Stata, SPSS, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, among others.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and familiarity with Publisher) and Office 365 (Sharepoint, OneDrive and Teams).
• Basic knowledge in data visualization in Microsoft Power BI.
V. LANGUAGES
